This new Fortnite mini-season is a lot of fun, so let’s talk about everything that’s new in the game!

The new Fortnite season is here. Galactic battle is the first mini season of this chapter and, like each season usually does, it changed a lot of how the game works and how you should approach encounters. In this article, I want to dive into some of the changes and give you some useful tips so you get that cool seasonal victory glider before the season is over.
And if you want to start playing the game, or you missed out on a limited time skin. Or maybe you don’t have the time to give to this game to finish the battle pass in time, you can always buy Fortnite accounts at a cheap price to start the game with anything you would want cosmetic or rank-wise
Star Wars comes to Fortnite yet again!
We’ve seen Star Wars content in Fortnite, but the game never dedicated an entire season to it. There’s a whole plethora of new content to sift through, with new stuff coming each week until the season is over. It is a mini season, ending in June 7th so be quick about getting to see this. As a huge fan of Star Wars, this content is a godsend for me, and I’ve been enjoying it thoroughly. Let’s get into some of the new content currently in the game.
New map POI
Right off the bat when you start a match you can see the Star destroyers covering the sky with an imposing Death star in the distance. Truly a Star Wars fan’s dream. Like every Fortnite crossover, it’s been made with love and with fans in mind. But that’s not it. There are a lot of new Star Wars themed places to explore. Besides the usual rebel and imperial camps, with even some clone troopers going around in some of them, you can visit:
- First order imperial base: a beautifully made imperial base filled with first order storm troopers and with one of this season’s bosses, Captain Phasma, waiting inside to fight you.
- Vader Samurai’s solitude: A samurai themed imperial base with the samurai troopers and Vader residing inside. Take Vader out to gain his dark force abilities. More on that later!
- Resistance base: Meet Poe Dameron in this base made with incredible detail. You can even see the Millennium Falcon!
- Outpost Enclave: A Tatooine inspired location where you can enter the famous cantina where you can listen to the Star Wars classic song “Mad About Me” (bet you didn’t know that’s what it’s called!) and enter a Jawa’s Sandcrawler.
This new season is a great treat for longtime Star Wars fans, with all it’s well crafted iconography from the movies!
Starships
There’s been flying vehicles in Fortnite before, but this time they brought out X-Wings and Tie fighters for you to fly into and explore the map! Be careful thought because you can be downed easily be enemy fire. However, that doesn’t mean you’re grounded, as these ships will fix themselves up to three times when their health bar is depleted.
These ships are found in fixed locations in the map, so it’s first come, first served for the most part!
Jedi and Sith powers
A fan favorite mechanic comes to play in the form of Jedi and Sith powers! When you’re out exploring, you’ll see a blue or red icon in your map featuring a lightsaber in the middle. Go to that point in the map, and you will get a lightsaber and a different power depending on what character is waiting on that point.
- Palpatine: Sith electricity. A very powerful attack with an extremely high DPS. Not only good at taking down enemies but also destroying structures, and you can even disable vehicles temporarily, preventing them from escaping!
- Darth Vader: To get this one, you have to take him out at the Vader Samurai’s solitude. You will get the power to throw your saber. This isn’t particularly powerful, but the cooldown is very fast, allowing you to do it multiple times during the fight.
- Rey: She grants you the ability to perform a force push! This ability is great at throwing off vehicles and, if you’re fighting near cliffs or high places in general, throwing off your opponent to their doom!
- Mace Windu: He grants you the Force Pull Ability. If a pesky enemy is trying to get you from a distance, you can force them to a distance that you’re comfortable with and take them out with either your lightsaber or any other weapon you have.
- Darth Maul: With his Force throw, you will pick up nearby debris and throw it at the enemy, causing some great AOE attack.
Besides that character’s ability, you will also get a double jump while you have the lightsaber equipped. You can only have one force ability per match, and the ability is tied to the character, not the lightsaber. So if you take out a force user and loot his lightsaber you will only have the weapon, not the abilities, which isn’t really worth it in my opinion.
Weapons
Every single weapon in the previous season was vaulted, and now there’s only Star Wars Blasters to shoot. That’s right! Fortnite really wanted to go all out with this and for the rest of the season we will only continue to get more blasters, including the iconic E-11 Blaster that stormtroopers use in the movies. In some trailers, we have even seen Jango Fett’s dual blasters, so those will also eventually drop into the game. All of these weapons are hitscan, this basically means that as soon as you shoot the bullet already traveled to wherever you’re aiming at. Meaning that good aiming is particularly necessary, and also that you don’t have to worry about the bullets dropping when trying to shoot someone far away!
Future content?
This season is very short, and there are already a lot of rumors about what’s coming next. A lot of people seem to think that the next season will be superhero themed, aligned with the release of James Gunn’s Superman film, and that the battle pass will feature this iconic superhero. Which is great because the previous time there was a version of Superman it was also on a battle pass, and he won’t be returning, so this is your chance to play as him! A superhero themed season right after a Star Wars season feels like Epic is catering specifically to me!

In conclusion
This new season is amazing for Star Wars fans, but many of these new weapons and mechanics are also fun in general, so don’t worry if you’re not into the franchise! Besides, with this season being so short, I doubt anyone will get to become tired of this content before it goes away. This new season possibly being Superhero themed does have me excited about every new mechanic that could enter the island. Fortnite always succeeds in creating really fun movement mechanics and if it’s all true and Superman’s in it, I hope you can get the ability to fly, it’s not like it would be the first time!
